Friend of the Doubting

At some point in our lives, most of us have thought that if we could have been with Jesus, our doubts would be erased. John the Baptist pretty much erases that thought. He was the one who was sent to proclaim that Jesus was the messiah. Then, when he finds himself in prison, he begins to wonder and sends his disciples to God and ask Jesus directly. It’s important to note that Jesus doesn’t turn John’s disciples away or scorn John’s question. He gives the answer and even goes on to call John the greatest man to be born up to that time. John played one of the most significant roles before the coming of Jesus and still he doubted. Jesus welcomes the question and answers it. While we don’t get to ask Jesus questions face to face, he is certainly not afraid of our questions either. In the kingdom of God, we have the Spirit who can be with us in our doubts, which is even greater than being the herald of the messiah.
